Many of us are unaware of this feature of orkut ,and many of us are still searching how to insert status or anyother message in orkut profile below yours name, This feature is mostly used by orkut user to displaying status message that whether they are online or offline, 
This features have almost Solve half of problem of some orkut user who are searching the trick of writing Long names in orkut.
How to Insert This Message >> To insert this message you don’t need to go to edit profile ,Go to Profile >> See below yours Header name a box will appear in front of you Click Edit Insert yours Message and Update that you are done, You can use Bold and italic Code to Decorate the status messagE, You can insert Orkut Smilyies In yours Message Also,But one disadvantage of this is that orkut donot add this Feature in Recent updates , so if you change yours Status Message ,it will not diplayed in Recent updates.

Step 1: Log into your Orkut account.
Step 2: Click on Profile link, Left Hand Side.
Step 3: Click on the Edit button, where its written “Set your status Here”.
Step 4: Copy paste this exactly as it is there (Quotes not included): ” ”
To use a different image simply replace this “images/mittel/76/807276.jpg” without quotes, with the desired image path. To extract image path open the image/album/community/etc page and make a right click on image then click on properties and copy image path.This hack may only work for the images uploaded on the orkut server, since I haven’t tested it for the others.
